We have had such a happy few days in Melbourne and Tim and Sarah have been more than kind. On Tuesday we headed into town to meet ‘the Adams’ Family’ for lunch. So lovely to see Will and Ed and a especially lovely surprise to see Jeff too. So much to catch up on and needless to say nowhere near enough time. As indeed was there to see the exhibitions at the Ian Potter Centre. However we caught a glimpse and enough to whet my appetite to head back there to see a bit more.
Travelling around Melbourne is remarkably easy, very efficient, air conditioned and so clean. I paid a quick visit to the ACMI (Australian Centre for Moving Image – interesting but not as good as NYC!) and then returned to the Ian Potter gallery to see an interesting exhibition of Fred Williams sketches during his time in London, where he seemed to spend a lot of time at London Zoo and back stage at the theatre – so right up my street. There was also an interesting exhibition of skulls (Ron Mueck) and of indigenous work, both of which were a little beyond me. I am so looking forward to learning more about the latter at Uluru as I feel there is much to understand.
I then walked through the beautiful botanical gardens to meet the others for a performance of Wind in the Willows by the lake. A charming pantomime production with a certain amount of poetic licence including the audience all being rabbits!

The sweetest thing of all were the most beautiful ducks which meandered amongst the audience to help eat their picnics. Loved them.
