We had a bit of a lazy morning and then went for a tour of Havelock North, visiting the local farmers market and then on to lunch at Clearview winery which belonged to a friend of Barbara’s. We had the most wonderful lunch and delicious wine overlooking the vineyard and on to beautiful Hawke’s Bay. In the car park were avocado trees, laden with avocados, which I don’t think I have ever seen growing before. Barbara pointed out one which, was still hanging on the tree, but neatly cut in half – eaten by a possum!

Later in the afternoon I left Mum and Barbara to have a little snooze and headed up Te Mata (Sleeping Giant) a peak above Havelock North for a bit of a yomp. OMG! I cannot tell you how beautiful it was. Quite a tough walk (I started on the green but somehow ended on the red!) but more than worth it. In fact so much so, that when I returned, I insisted I drove Mum up there so she could see the wonderful view too. Photographs do not do it justice, but hopefully the following give you an idea.
